Former Claimer Doing Big Things

Five-year-old Autobeacat, owned by Valene Farms, won the $150,000 Louisiana Classic at Fair Grounds on Saturday. Canterbury aficionados would recall that Autobeacat spent the summer of ’07 campaigning in Shakopee, winning two conditioned claiming routes.

He also raced for a tag two times in Louisiana in 2008 before twice finishing second in six figure stakes and winning another prior to yesterday’s score. The gelding has earned $258,000 this year.

He has wins on both dirt and turf and would, should the conditions for the 2009 Claiming Crown remain the same as this year, be eligible for both the Emerald and the Jewel. The Claiming Crown will be hosted by Canterbury July 25, 2009.
